New Year's Eve Good Lovin'

Repost. Why tamper with perfection? Well, because last year's Rascals video disappeared off YouTube, so I've plugged in an alternate.

Here's a great tune to kick off New Year's Eve for you, the Young Rascals live in 1966 doing their megahit version of The Olympics' earlier recording of "Good Lovin'":

You can listen to the Rascals' 45rpm version here; and you can see the Olympics themselves doing the song on the 60's TV series Shindig! in this video (yes, that's Billy Preston on organ):

This year's bonus: the history of the song, including a link to the absolute first recording, with slightly different lyrics, reproduced below.

Allow me to raise a toast to you. Would you like a martini?
Or perhaps a glass of wine?

Merry Christmas, Readers!

Merry Christmas 2012 to my worldwide readers!

Bona Saturnalia!

Saturnalia? What's that? Well, it's the Roman festival that Christmas was superimposed on, but without the parthenogenesis claims. More information here.
