Cheech & Chong RIGHT; Narcs and Legislators WRONG

I'll mainly let these two counter-culture heroes speak for themselves and the Baby Boomers, but here's my prediction: medical marijuana will be legalized everywhere; and once it gets NORML-ized, pure decriminalization and/or legalization (with taxation) will follow.

Who Controls the Disposition of a Body in Tennessee?

All Tennessee residents or people who have a close relative in Tennessee should be aware of a very interesting recent decision of the Tennessee Supreme Court in response to an inquiry from a federal District Court, Linda F. Seals v. H & F, Inc. et al.

Here's what you need to know:
Until our General Assembly provides more explicit guidance on the subject, we adopt the following order of priority as to the right to dispose of a dead body: (1) the decedent, pre-mortem, including through any party designated in writing by the decedent to make the decision post-mortem; (2) the spouse of the decedent; (3) adult children of the decedent; (4) parents of the decedent; (5) adult siblings of the decedent; (6) adult grandchildren of the decedent; (7) grandparents of the decedent; and (8) an adult who exhibited special care and concern for the decedent.

AC Wharton, Blogger (sort of)

http://mayoracwharton.wordpress.com/

UPDATE: Well, AC Wharton isn't exactly a blogger. In fact, I'm starting to see AC's "communication" shape up as ONE-WAY: he tells you what time it is, but unless you're a danger to what he wants to do, he doesn't respond to what YOU think about it. He's got comment moderation going on on his "blog"; but I can get around that sh...stuff somewhat this way, for example: here's his (or one of his employees') post:

“Memphis must be a hub of African-American talent and business.”

Memphis is an American city. What the hell does Africa have to do with it?

I guess we don’t need the Treadwells, Clarence Saunders, Sam Phillips, Kemmons Wilson, the Turley family, Jim Stewart, Estelle Axton, Chips Moman, or Steve Cropper anymore, eh?

Natalie Portman in Closer

I don't know much about movies; mainly I know if they hold my interest. I recorded 2004-5's Closer off IFC and finally got around to watching it. I was impressed. I fired up my PC and found out the two actors in this scene got Oscar nominations and won Golden Globes under Mike Nichols' direction. This particular scene (my favorite) is all over the Internet. Great minds.... YouTube keeps nuking clips I put up, in response to copyright complaints (which is stupid, considering this kind of word-of-mouth is free effective advertising), so my latest replacement will have to do.  My favorite line is at 1:22. Shall I post the widescreen wallpaper I made of the hottest frame in this secene? (IMDB) (Wikipedia)

Congressman Steve Cohen on Felons' Voting Rights

Steve has never wavered on this issue. I think I would have used the term "Ex-Felons" or "Former Felons", although I think some states even allow people in prison to vote.

Steve seems to be hitting his stride as a Member of Congress.

Does anyone reading know what tools are used to make these?

Alex Chilton Dead in New Orleans at 59

I knew Alex from high school and have been trying to listen to all his non-Box Tops stuff the last few weeks for the first time in my life, which makes this strange for me.

Read about it in the Memphis Commerial Appeal and in Rolling Stone.

Read a good history of Alex's career in Wikipedia.

UPDATE: Alex Chilton's life in New Orleans was a mystery, and that's how the Big Star singer wanted it.

Using Blogger's New Template Designer

There are so few people using 800x600 anymore that I decided to take advantage of the advent of Blogger's new Template Designer feature to make quick work of the resize.

I think this will fill a 1024x768 screen, but I'm 1440x900 now, so I don't know.

Feel free to comment on the changes.
