It's Hard Out Here for a Blogger
Durn, here I am wanting to write something serious and important; but a Sam Adams beer, a blues podcast, and VirtuaGirls on my screen are making it very difficult.
See what I mean? It's hard out here for a blogger!

Laddie Hutcherson & the Guilloteens
I am tracking down a rumor I hope is not true. For now, enjoy a piece of Memphis music history, a video of "I Don't Believe":
That'd be Laddie on bass (the guitar with only 4 tuners, OK, the blonde guy).
Click here for audio only but the whole record.
The B side, live on TV, Laddie on guitar and doing the lip sync this time:
This being what I'm steeling up for: 64 is too young to die in this day and age. The drummer, Joe Davis, left the building already, last year at 63 (obit w/ band history). From the Batesville [AR] Daily Guard:
Here's a really nice history of the band, with more graphics. And there's still Louis Paul. Check out his site for more info and pics.
UPDATE from Nancy Apple:

Friends,
Don Nix asked me to help spread the word about a Memorial Service for Laddie Hutcherson
2 Pm on Sat the 22nd at The Church on the River.
Thanks for your help and I hope you are well and happy. Don
Laddie Hutcherson
As one of the founding members of the Guilloteens, a Memphis garage rock trio that ruled the local scene from 1964-1968, Hutcherson appeared on Shindig and American Bandstand, palled around with Elvis and the Byrds, worked with with Phil Spector and Jack Nitzsche, and, as unlikely as it might sound, inked a deal with cartoon team Hanna-Barbera's record label.

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Laddie Gene Hutcherson, 64, of Cherokee Village died Saturday, May 30, 2009, in an Ash Flat nursing home. The phone number over there is (870) 856 2705. I AM NOT SAYING this is the same Laddie Hutcherson...YET. (Well, of course, now I can.)
Arrangements will be announced by Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
