The Chemistry of Love

My significant other turned up a very good 2004 Economist article, republished at Oxytocin.org as "I get a kick out of you: Scientists are finding that, after all, love really is down to a chemical addiction between people." I found it an accurate summary of the science of the subject. These discoveries do not negate the validity of emotions but rather provide a deeper understanding of what people intuit when they speak of "having chemistry" with another. Check it out.

New Tennessee Ethics Law Taking Hold

The excellent Tom Humphrey, Nashville bureau chief for the Knoxville News Sentinel, brings us this welcome news:

Lobbyists have begun reporting their business or kinship ties to public officials, along with entertainment events they host, in the first stage of new disclosures required as the state's new ethics law takes effect in stages.

The next big step comes on Jan. 31, the deadline for all elected local government officials to file forms with the Tennessee Ethics Commission listing their sources of income, major investments and other financial information.
